The clocks will be going forward soon which means we will soon be enjoying longer days and warmer weather. There is nothing better than making the most of longer evenings that provide the perfect opportunity to seek adventure, try something new and explore new places. Take a look at our suggestions for making the most of the extra daylight hours!
Get back in touch with friends
In the winter months our feelings of tiredness increase, and we reduce the size of our social group in favour of the comfort of the sofa and a boxset. With longer evenings coming, now is the time to organise a get together with friends you haven’t seen in a while. Everyone is always more open to making plans when it gets warmer. Get a What App group conversation going and arrange a meal out, a walk in the park or a game of tennis.
Get outside
Create opportunities to soak up the sun by getting out into the green spaces near you. Enjoy a morning coffee on the patio, read a book in your garden, abandon your car keys and walk to the shops or school or make plans to go to the park for a walk. All these activities will make a difference to your health and wellbeing.
Make time to exercise
Throughout winter, miserable weather and dark evenings are the perfect excuse to avoid getting as active as we are in the summer. Our working week can feel tight for time but with BST’s arrival, nature opens up both before and after our working day. Turn up to your nearest Parkrun or try out an outdoor bootcamp to boost the endorphins. If you fancy a more relaxed pace, an outdoor yoga class might tickle your fancy. At Sand Sea Spa Retreats, bootcamps and yoga sessions can take place outside and even on the beach.
Explore the countryside
Those extra daylight hours mean that there is even more time to discover the beautiful English countryside and coastline that we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep here in North Devon! Take this opportunity to venture further afield to find a new favourite place to spend quality time. The yellow gorse bushes are in flower, nodding daffodils line our country lanes, snowdrops and bluebells blanket the woodland around us.
Visit the beach
Spring and summer are the perfect months to visit the beach and make the most of the longer days. Day trips are possible, if you are lucky enough to live near the coast and UK staycations have never been more accessible with a wide range of places to stay, tucked away in peaceful pockets of the country. Longer sunshine days inspire us to get out and about. Why not make North Devon your go-to destination in 2023 and try out surfing or coasteering experiences. Sand Sea Spa Retreats allows you to design your own retreat experience in North Devon creating the perfect balance of action and relaxation.
